Not sweating in Ireland

Mitch and I have made it to our final destination. The weather here is in the mid 60s everyday, a welcome change from 90s. We have spent 2 nights in Dublin where we have visited probably about 10 different pubs and drank a ton of different kinds of beer. Reasons why Ireland is great: 1. The weather 2. They speak English 3. People are nice 4. There are about 4 pubs on every block.

All is well here, we are heading to cork for a night then working our way up the coast to Galway. We fly back on Tuesday from Dublin, it is hard to believe that my 40 days in Europe are almost over.

http://www.alpinraft.ch/sites/eng/activities/bungy_jumping.html

Check out this site for the activity that Mitch and I took part in yesterday. It was the time of my life. Scared, nervous, thrilled, relieved, and happy all at once.

We bungy jumped from the Stockhorn. Check out the video, it is pretty insane.

The day before that we floated down the river in Bern, freezing cold, but extremely exhilerating. Here is a link to a video of that from youtube.

all is well here, headed to Zurich today for a night, then off to Paris for 2 nights, then flying to Ireland.

PJ

Concert day is upon us.
Gomez at 3pm.
Ben Harper at 7pm.
Pearl Jam at 9pm.

The fact that this was the only thing we actually planned on doing on this trip makes this day all the sweeter.

Hot and sweAty in Italy

Summer in Italy sounds wonderful for most, but unless you love to sweat through your clothes then it is not for you. 2 days until the pearl jam concert. Also realized that Gomez is also playing the same day along with Ben Harper. Shoulde be a blast, most likely going to be hot as hell there, but it should be well worth it.

Three more nights in venice then off to Bern for 2 nights and Zurich for 2 nights. I cannot wait to see the alps. Happy 4th everyone, Mitch and I will be spending the evening at Harrys American Bar right on the water....maybe they will have karoake.

Croatia

Who would have thought that Croatia is such a beautiful country. Our 5 hour train ride from Zagreb took us through mountains and valleys, pretty impressive. Looking forward to some relaxation these next few days before we head to Rome.

The sunburn is actually not all that bad right now, carrying a backpack yesterday caused me some of the worst pain of my life.

As of now Mitch and I are in Split, Croatia. That is located right on the Adriatic Sea, we are planning on being here for about 3 days. On Tuesday night we are taking a ferry over to Italy, where we will begin the last 20 days of our trip.

Not sure how much money i have spent thus far, all i know is that Waconia Public schools will be paying me in 3 days !) Well all is good here, all I keep hearing about in MN is all the severe weather.

I fought the sun and the sun won

after a full day at the bathes yesterday, I have now visited 2 pharmacies in Budapest to help solve the problem of awful sunburn. I came out with a special spray that says something in Hungarian, so far I have used it twice, and have been pleased with the results. I think that i say this every time that i get sunburnt, but here it goes again, I will never forget to put on sunscreen again.

heading to croatia tomorrow.....for four days in the sun....I am going to need to stock up on sunscreen

sun burnt in Budapest

Mitch and I took on the Bathes of Budapest today, 4 hours in the sun, and spending 6 minutes in the hottest sauna ever took a toll on the body.

Budapest is an interesting city, one more full day here, then we are off to the paradise of Split, Croatia.

Washing clothes in Krakow

The first clothes wash is taking place as I write this. What a process. We are taking in our last night in Krakow, after seeing Aushwitz on Monday, and this huge ass salt mine today. We have about 10 hours worth of travel tomorrow as we head to Budapest. Today we booked our ferry ride across the adriatic sea from Split, Croatia. We also finally bought our Pearl Jam tickets for the concert on July 6th.

The only thing I miss thus far other than friends and family is my own bed. oh well. So far things have been pretty stress free, no major problems (knock on wood). It must be going well since i have somewhat inquired about jobs over here next summer, and possibly some other time.

The first few days

here it is the first post from Europe. As of right now i am in Munich where Mitch and i will be spending 3 nights. Last night was quite the adventure, and i feel as if today will be as well. apparently it is Munich's 700th birthday today, which as the beer capital of the world should be quite the celebration. So far the trip has been a blast, other than Mitch forgetting his railpass at the train station when we arrived yesterday, dont worry we went back and found it, apparently luck was on his side.

apparently the Germans enjoy their jagermeister, free shots when the German national team scored a goal last night in their World Cup match.

Final Countdown

41 hours until I will be bound for the place they call Europe

Tuesday, June 8, 2010

Bag is packed

Well my backpack is packed, who knows how many more times it will be unpacked, and packed again before the final departure. Called all the credit cards today, and stopped at the bank to tell them all I am going to Europe so they don't put a hold on my card while I am over there.

Final 2 days of school at Waconia High as well, teachers should not work in June, it should be illegal.

The first entry

Here it goes, due to such great requests by many different individuals I have decided to form a blog that will document the trip that myself and Mitch will be taking. As I am writing this Mitch has already made his way over the pond, where he will be meeting up with his sister. I do not venture over until June 11th, the day after the last day of school at Waconia High School.

Well I am not sure whether this blog will be all that entertaining, I am a little concerned that it may be a burden to actually write in the thing while I am over there. Essentially this is going to update you all on where we are at during our trip, and what we are doing.
